Write for us

We welcome pitches that make a specific feature of urban life easier to understand. A strong proposal starts with a clear question, names the reader value and avoids claiming that one city's answer applies everywhere.

What we want to read

Useful contributions explain how a street, building, public space or city routine shapes people's choices. We are interested in clear comparisons, overlooked trade-offs and grounded explanations that need neither a dramatic claim nor specialist jargon. Practical ideas should be safe for a general reader to consider and should not depend on local rules, professional approval or hazardous work.

Make the pitch specific

Tell us the working idea, the central question, the intended reader and what your piece would help them understand. Briefly explain the approach and identify any important limitations or local context. A broad subject such as city design is not yet a pitch; a precise question about one design choice is more useful.

Send a proposal

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please describe the idea in your own words; there is no need to send a finished article unless we ask for one. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication.
